The statue is carved from maple wood.

Execution:

Natural: The work after carving is untreated.
Painted: The figures after being carved are painted in oil and plated gold. The process is done entirely by hand.
Burnished 3 colors: The sculpture after being carved, is painted with two or three different shades of mordant and brought to gloss with a layer of wax.
Waxed with gold: The sculpture is treated with a clear wax and brought to polish; the edges are decorated with gold lines.
